liam banta Benjamin star is doing some very important work in showing his audience an intensely caring way of being; from building empathy for the people so easily hated in the songs "SUMthing,"and "mirrors," to rewriting the way in which we tend to interact with women in our society in "Love, for you." Of course we can't overlook all the work put towards lifting up the African American community throughout this tape as well. Props, for real. Favorite track: Love, for You (Prod. ManHe).

about

"This album is important to me because I believe it to be the closest representation of ME, as not only an evolved artist but an evolved Man; an evolved Black Man. I don’t care about following trends, fitting into a category, being politically correct or exuding a persona. I care about being a living, breathing example of Manhood, for the purposes of Progress and Freedom, using every medium that I’ve been gifted to master. This album is important to me because each record was crafted with as much of my brothers and sisters, in mind, as my own personal experiences. I wanted to provide an outlet for my RAGE, PRIDE, HONESTY, MISSTEPS, INSECURITY and more so than anything, I wanted to make DOPE music that makes people want to pump their fists, or tap their feet or just be DAMN proud of being Black, being FREE, being Beautiful… being Human, on this day and every day! With all of that said, I shouldn’t say too much more. What I do want to do is thank everyone, for all the support, all of the inspiration, all of the criticisms and all of the prayers for me as an artist, and just as a human being. Without all of those things, I doubt that I would have even been able to move my perspective, to move my mind, which moves my soul to move my pen, to write this album. The last year and a half has been quite a rollercoaster for everybody, and it has led many people to many of their own unique places; and it has led me here. Hopefully this project will lead us all a bit closer to one another and to that Black Beautiful feeling of Speaking our TRUTH." - B. Starr
